Teaching is my passion and I love to see my students become well rounded musicians. I enjoy the relationship between teacher and student and it is great to observe their progress through our time together. Recently I have started offering online piano lessons in addition to my studio teaching.
Christine Klaver-Schmidt has recently retired from teaching piano at the Beckett School at Laurier after 36 years. She is now teaching privately at her own piano studio in the Forest Hill area in Kitchener Ontario. Her studio has two pianos, multi-track recording equipment and even a drumset.
Christine started her musical career in Holland. She later graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory in piano studying with Danielle Dechenne and Willem Brons. In 1983 Christine moved to Waterloo where she continued her studies at Wilfrid Laurier University with Professor Garth Beckett in Piano Performance.
Since graduating, she has worked numerous times as an accompanist, choir director, and church organist. In 1989 Christine performed Handel's Messiah in Trinidad-Tobago with a local choir under the direction of Hazel Graham, which included a TV interview and visit with the Canadian ambassador.
As of September 2000 Christine has held the position of accompanist for the Inter-Mennonite Children's Choir under the direction of Carolyn VanderBurgh.
